Our name, Foothills Grange, is inspired by historical and cultural elements of the Grange Movement, a significant period in American Agriculture history that began over 135 years ago. On the heels of the Civil War, “The Grangers” founded the first progressive farming movement in the United States. They created a nationwide effort for the social and economic betterment of farmers, including equal voting rights for women and farmers of color. The Grange was responsible for creating well known organizations such as 4-H and Future Farmers of America.
