The Open Page: A Meditative Writing Circle
Sunday, June 14, 2026 6:00 PM - Sunday, July 12, 2026 8:00 PM (EDT)
Description
Free-writing, or continuous stream-of-consciousness writing, is a meditative practice where we bypass secondary thoughts, such as self doubt or critiquing, so that we may witness our authentic creative channel with curiosity and compassion. The intention of this space is to explore creative expression in a way which is removed from concepts of talent, productivity, and the rational mind. This is a great container for creatives of any kind, especially those who may be experiencing “writer’s block”.
Each bi-weekly session will have a theme; whether it be through self reflection and personal inquiry, creative explorations of our personal stories, or a spiritual tool for channeling and manifestation, we will use writing as tool to align us with our core self and our innate creative spark.
All ages (18+) and experience levels are welcome. Sharing is encouraged but always optional. Tea will be provided. There is a suggested donation of $5-20 to support the facilitator and Quietude Retreat Center, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please hit the RSVP button to reserve your spot, as space is limited. You must reserve your seat for each session that you plan to attend.
Upcoming Dates: 5/17, 5/31, 6/14, 6/28, 7/12
Upcoming Themes:
5/17: Free The Artist Within: The Dreamer, The Doer, The Critic
In this workshop we will explore our personal relationship to creativity and our authentic creative channel, as well as the common roadblocks along the artist's path: self criticism, capitalism, and hyper-productivity.
5/31: Wisdom In The Spiral: How Looking to Our Past Can Help Us Move Forward
Our past has a lot to teach us, if we are willing to listen. In this workshop we will reflect upon the key moments that have shaped who we are today, and use the wisdom of our past to help us clarify who we wish to become.
6/14: Help, Thanks, Wow: The Essential Prayers Poured Through The Page
In this workshop we will work with the simple elegance of Anne Lamott's three essential forms of prayer: Help, Thanks, and Wow. We will use these prayers as pathways towards greater connection to ourselves, each other, the earth, and the spiritual realms.
